Privacy

Short version: nothing is collected unless you agree to it, and you can change your mind on this page.

If you decline, or ignore the bar

Nothing is loaded. Google Analytics is not merely switched off — its script is never added to the page, so no cookies are set and no request reaches Google. The site is static files served from a server in Germany; there is no account, no form and no newsletter signup on it.

Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage, under the key half-ceo-analytics. That value never leaves your device and is not a cookie.

If you accept

Google Analytics 4 loads and sets its own cookies — _ga and _ga_XWYXKBF3WP — which last up to two years and hold a randomly generated identifier. It records which pages you opened, roughly where you are, which site or search sent you, and what kind of device you used. Google processes this as my data processor, and it means data is transferred to Google in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

I look at it to see which pages get read and where readers come from. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, and it is not combined with anything else.

Server logs

The web server keeps ordinary access logs — the address that requested a page, the page, the time, the browser string. This happens for everyone, whatever you choose above, because a server that keeps no logs cannot be operated or defended. They are used only to keep the site running.

Change your mind

This clears the stored choice and asks again. If you had accepted, the analytics cookies stay in your browser until you clear them there — this page cannot delete cookies set on Google’s domain.

Asking about your data

Write to julia.tikhokhod@gmail.com and say what you want — a copy of what is held, or deletion. In practice the analytics data holds no name or email, only a random identifier, so the honest way to erase it is to clear your browser’s cookies for this site.
